"My parents in-law, my husband, and I all had a wonderful time in Bira and were glad that we stayed on your side of the beach rather than the touristy Bira Beach. Kaluku Cottages has a better and quieter beach. It was perfect!

Both Beachfront Cottage and Deluxe Bungalow were wonderful, and very comfortable and clean. Pak Firman was very helpful and friendly. The food prepared by the ladies was also very delicious. They did a great job in keeping the resort clean. I will definitely recommend my friends and families to stay at Kaluku Cottages.

Pak Muli was a great driver, he made us feel safe and comfortable. We were very happy to have him drive us from one end of South Sulawesi to another. Thanks again Carol for all your assistance and organisation. We do hope one day we will return to Kaluku Cottages!"

"Everything was perfect - we really enjoyed staying there. The family was so nice, we were overwhelmed by their hospitality on the day of the Ramadan festival when we had breakfast with them. Very nice!!

"We had a fabulous time at Kaluku Cottages, and were so very impressed with the high standard of accommodation! The deluxe cottage was just perfect - and such a blessing to have air con, especially after a few prior days in the jungle area of Tangkoko. And hot water was also very welcome indeed - bliss in fact! Being able to sleep well, feeling nice and cool - and have a lovely hot shower, is just so necessary. I can't tell you what a difference it made to us! Everything was just perfect. And Firman looked after us so well, as did all the lovely staff!

We just couldn't get over the size of the cottage - fabulous! We have never experienced such beach front luxury - and also having a lovely fridge with chilled drinks was very helpful! You certainly have thought of every little comfort for it!

Right now, I could certainly do with being back on that lovely sun lounger looking out at the superb views! So, many, many thanks for a wonderful stay, and we hope to visit again one day in the future!"

"We certainly enjoyed our stay at Kaluku Cottages! We really enjoyed the staff and the Deluxe Bungalow was very comfortable. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The transport was great, and we really liked Mr Muli. He's not only a cheerful fellow, he's a good driver!

"Kaluku Cottages is definitely one of a kind around Bira. We stayed in the cottage that had a huge terrace where we could sit and enjoy the sea views. We walked to the end of the beach to see the boat building. It was amazing to see the big ships being built - I've never seen anything like it!"

"Your cottages are excellent, we had a very relaxing stay! On arrival we were shown to our perfect deluxe bungalows & served a nice cold beer. We had some fantastic dives with Elvis who picked us up in the morning and took us back again in the evenings after our dives. We all agreed we would like to go back to Bira one day as the diving and the beaches are just fantastic. It's nice to dive on sites where there are no other divers!

A big thanks to all the family at Kaluku Cottages for the great food and for always having a nice cold beer ready after a day of diving. Thanks also for helping us with transport and for all the general information you gave us. Hopefully we will be back and see everyone again soon..."

"When we got to Kaluku Cottages the beach was magnificent. We stayed in a standard bungalow which was perfect. Walk out the front door at 6am and you're greeted by the sunrise. Firman & his family were so welcoming. They cooked our breakfast & dinner, which was beautiful every time.

We hired a boat to Liukang Island and then had bbq fish at a floating restaurant. I was lucky to see a turtle while I was snorkeling - the water was so clear and had many fish we'd seen at the Great Barrier Reef. We had an amazing time and felt so welcomed, I would love to visit again."

"Thanks to an excerpt from our Lonely Planet guide we ventured further down south from Makassar to a place called Pantai Bira. WOW! It's certainly one of the more memorable places to unwind when you're hiking around South Sulawesi.

Kaluku Cottages sits on a beach of white sand stretching as far as you can see. The food here is excellent and there's always lots of cold beer (can be a rarity around these parts!)."
